Ancient indigenous variety form Tuscany, rediscovered and studied by the University of Florence. It was planted in our estate for a first time in 2005 in collaboration with the team of Professor Bandinelli.
The Pugnitello grapes give a wine with an intense red color with purple notes, good structure and soft tannins. It is interesting both for vinification in purity as well as an ingredient conferring special features to the aging of the wine.

Tuscany is one of the regions of Italy most devoted to the production of excellent wines; in fact, its name has always been linked to that of great labels and every year more and more tourists come to the region to visit its cellars and vineyards.

Among the most used vines in the production of Tuscan wines we certainly find Sangiovese, Montepulciano or Malvasia yet, there are various vines linked to this land today almost totally forgotten. When in 1987 the University of Florence promoted the project to collect the Tuscan viticultural heritage, precisely with the aim of safeguarding the lesser-used species, the Pugnitello was a real rediscovery. This vine, in fact, perhaps originating from the Grosseto area, had been forgotten due to its poor yield. In fact, Pungitello offers small bunches of the size of a fist (hence its name) not very suitable for large-scale production.

Today there are not many companies that have resumed its cultivation but, in Le Buche, we are convinced that it is important to keep this traditional Tuscan variety alive and we have decided to produce a wine in purity.
Our Pugnitello is a particular wine with great personality, with an intense color and a strong territorial imprint.
